Have you ever truly been challenged to stand by what you believe? Have you really had a reason to have to make a stand for what you believe at some time? Do you know clearly know what you believe by faith such that you can "make a stand" in life by which to live? You may think these are some unusual or unnecessary questions yet, the truth is, we must all determine if we truly live and stand by what we believe in a time where it is counterculture, not 'the norm'. There has been a shift going on in the foundation of our culture for some time.
This Sunday when we gather for worship, we will be dealing with these questions and how we can truly live as a "believer" in our culture today; how we can be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ today. We don't live in a time or culture that encourages us to truthfully live in ways that are consistent with Christ's teachings, ,most of the time it would be counterculture. Do you believe there are any "absolute truths" that we know and believe about our faith? This Sunday is the final piece of our current series, "RISK IT!" This will be a most important Sunday as we discuss, "Commitment in a 'don't get involved' World !"
Our text for this weekend will be II Timothy 4: 2-5, if you are interested in reading it before Sunday services. Our Worship Design Team has made some very special plans for worship this weekend and I know you won't want to miss one of the services. While it is a holiday weekend, prior to Labor Day, this Sunday is a very vital time in our church's life and yours - plan now to be in worship Sunday. It is a very powerful Sunday to invite a friend with you to worship, as well. We will be challenged, encouraged, "called", and engaged by His Spirit this Sunday. I know already, God is working to make this a riveting Sunday experience for all who will allow Him to speak and whisper into your heart and life! I am especially looking forward to this week's time together in worship and can't wait to meet you there. Plan to be in one of the two services Sunday morning and invite a friend. You will experience some special music and a couple surprises, one of which will provide treasured time for you to engage God's Spirit in a way that could impact your life over the weeks to come. I'll see you in worship this week, dear friends, and am anxious to RISK IT with you in ministry for our Lord. He is actively present with us - I feel it everyday and see His presence. Holy Communion is another encounter in worship we'll experience this week; let's take the RISK and be there together!
It is a joy to share in ministry with you - you are a deeply loved people!
peace, kim <><

....proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching.
For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires,
and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths.
As for you, always be sober, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully.
