| Saint James Transition House |
| As the body of Christ, Saint James had a wonderful opportunity to give hope and a future to families in need. Families now account for over 40% of the homeless and is the fastest growing section of the homeless population. 4,121 students enrolled in the Sarasota / Manatee County school system were identified as being homeless in 2007. | Gifts From God |
|
Saint James cooks dinner and serves every 5th weekend at Gifts from God.. We cook on Saturday afternoon at 3pm in the Fellowship Hall. On Sunday afternoon, we meet at the church at 3pm to car pool to the Dream Center.
We attend services, minister or lend an ear, and feed the needy. The dates for 2010 are:
- May 29th and 30th
- August 28th and 29th
- October 30th and 31st

| Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts |
|
The mission of the BSA (Boy Scouts of America) is to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and, in various ways, prepare them to make ethical choices over their lifetime and achieve their full potential. The values they strive to instill are based on those found in the Scout Oath and Law.
BSA PACK 14 (Cub Scouts) are boys first through fifth grade. They meet at the church Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. during the school year. Their motto is "Do Your Best."
BSA TROOP 14 serves young men ages 11-18. They meet Mondays 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. during the school year in the Scout Room at the church. Troop 14 meets weekly, plus one weekend per month for outdoor activity. Their goal is build personal character, form responsible citizens and learn by having fun. Click here to visit their website.

| Girl Scouts |
The Girl Scout program is an informal educational program designed to help girls put into practice the fundamental principles of the Girl Scout Movement as set forth in their Preamble. It is carried out in small groups with adult leadership and provides a wide range of activities developed around the interests and needs of girls.
TROOP 41 (Cadettes) meet on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm during the school year.

| Alcoholics Anonymous |
A fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may address their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; they are self-supporting through their contributions.
AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, political organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes causes. The primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.
Mixed: Monday & Friday evenings, 8:00 p.m. (Monday is a closed meeting)
Women's: Friday evenings, 7:00 p.m. |

| Al-Anon |
A fellowship of men, women and children whose lives have been affected by the compulsive drinking of a family member or friend. Whether or not the alcoholic has found sobriety, the family and friends can do a great deal to help themselves as well as the alcoholic.
Saint James is home to three Al-Anon Groups; one each on Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and one that meets on Thursday evening from 6:45 pm to 8:00 pm. | Meets weekly on Wednesday's 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. This fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from a gambling problem. The only requirement for membership si a desire to stop gambling. Contact the church office for information @ 377-6180. |

| Narcotics Anonymous |
| Meets weekly on Monday's 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may address their common problem and help others recover from Narcotic Addiction. | Other Groups Meeting At Saint James |
| Saint James has several other groups that meet on a regular basis. Mom's Club meets monthly; PRN (Professional Resource Network) meets weekly; AARP offers safe driving classes on a monthly basis and Moms In Touch meet weekly. Contact the church office for information @ 377-6180. |
